Well, it's just really incredibly inspiring that Opednews readers gathered 50,000 impeachment signatures in just 24 hours, with yet more the next 24 hours after that! WOW!!!

Given how proactive Opednews readers are, and how a-buzz the Internet is with the Thought Crimes Bill matter afoot, here is an action proposal:
Rob and other readers with similar capabilities on your own websites, can you set up a link for a petition which Oped readers sign and then distribute all over the web?
Following that, we could also write the ACLU and other organizations, showing them how many signatures we have gathered, promising them that we will personally each recruit at least three new members to sign up with them, IF they send out a petition to topple S. 1959 The Thought Crimes Bill.
Sad when the day comes that free speech is at risk and yet the ACLU and other organizations don't step forward with petitions. I can say first-hand, having served on my local County Chapter Board of the ACLU, that it is the hottest organization going, their attorneys are marvellous human beings with real effectiveness AND that yes, there are infiltrators there too. Of course! The ACLU litigates 60+ cases per year in each state of the country, appearing second in frequency to the Dept of Justice at the Supreme Court: It's enormously influential and powerful. So of course there are recruits working on the Board to interfere! We've got to get past them, and the way to do that is to promise new membership, in great numbers.
The only glitch I can foresee here is that making it thus conditional, their own follow-through may also be conditional (ie "we'll send out a petition if they recruit members. Otherwise, we won't bother"). Thoughts? Input?
