From The Hill
By Karen Timmons
In the late ‘50’s a TV show aired that asked the question, “Is there life on other planets?” Almost all of the scientists agreed that there was not. After all, man is the magnificent creation of the Divinity, the highest, so how could there be anything greater anywhere? After all, man has such great intellect. Why just look at the world man has now created in his own image.
Why just look at Congress and the intellect and courage of each member at the present moment. By the laws of a Republic, the government is the servant of the people, doing the people’s will. Only in time of great danger can the government and the leader of the whole shebang take over and dictate a course of action.
Our leader, Bush, taking advice from Cheney and Rumsfeld, fabricated a desperate need to protect the people of this republic from terrorists. And so we invaded Iraq in order to satisfy their greed for money and power. According to an intelligent TV show on one of the intelligent channels, Rumsfeld and Cheney met over 30 years ago, became great friends, and plotted a takeover of this country. And they did. Little by little.
And now what do we have? Obesity, lack of health insurance, huge murder rate, fear of invasion by the others, and a war still waging that should never have begun because it was begun for private motive and on a lie.
The laws of a Republic state that if the leader(s) of a Republic falsely lead their people into war, that they have committed treason against the people. They must be impeached. They must stand trial for war crimes against their people.
But we are sliding into an election year. I heard only one voice once for impeachment. I don’t remember whose, but it has been squelched. After all, it’s almost an election year. One of our candidates, representing one party, has to win. Barak wants to be the first black, Hilary the first woman, and on down the line of who wants to be what. No one is standing up for the people.
Oh, they all have their little plans to appease the people. “If I’m elected, I’ll bring the troops home by such and such a date, etc. etc. etc.” Gosh, trillions of dollars for health care? For schools, for college scholarships. The demon is within, folks, within our midst wearing masks of honor, within all of us. We have lost our honor with this war.
The problem of a Republic is that the people themselves have to be both intelligent and courageous. They have to know what kind of government governs a Republic, what the duties of intention of leaders are, and what their own rights are. Then they have to stand up to tyranny.
