The Air Force Killed my dad

My father served over 25 years in the Air Force (starting out in the Army Air Corp). During WWII he was part of the occupying forces that entered Japan.

During his flight into Japan his plane flew over Hiroshima and Nagasaki to see the damage. He continued to serve and in 1956 he was diagnosed with Basal cell carcinoma which was NOT completely excised.

Prior to 1956, almost immediately after WWII my father had started to lose weight and have severe stomach problems. My father served until 1963 when he retired, at retirement his blood pressure was 142/84 (which is high) and his cholesterol was 242 (which is high) but he was retired as fit. Even though he had high BP through out his career, starting after 1945.

The cancer returned in 1969 and he passed in 1970. The VA refused to classify his death as tied to active duty even though his autopsy had hypertension listed as a contributing cause.

It took 34 years to clear up that mistake. But now looking back at his medical files, looking at his treatment from retirement until his death, it is clear that the military was NOT trying to heal him but rather to KILL him.

They had him on medications he did not need but whose side effects were to increase BP and risk of heart attack and stroke. 2 weeks before he entered the hospital in July of 1970 they put him on Provera ( a hormone replacement treatment for women) and it has the side effects of elevating the BP plus the warnings on Provera state that if the patient has high cholesterol not to use Provera. He was also on Phenobarbitol, it’s only use is to control seizures my father never had seizures, one of it’s side effects is also that it raises the BP.

There are at least 4 more medications that he was on that he did not need and were in contradiction to his symptoms of high BP and high cholesterol. All this information is in his medical files which I have.

I am the son of a 25 year military veteran. My reason for being here is to make sure his story does not die like he did without answers from the military as to their actions. I am 42 blonde hair blue eyes 6-1 185# and in excellent health so you can (more...)
