It is critical for American people to fan, even more determinedly, the flames of non-violent insistence for ending Bush's oil war now. This rampant "beltway brainfreeze", as indicated by South Dakota Representative Stephanie Herseth's remarks, must be thawed!
From the Washington Post, March 8, 2007, "As Iraq Exit Plan Arrives,
Democrats' Rift Remains" by Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray:

'Because Republicans have stood remarkably united against the
Democratic effort, the loss of just a handful of Democratic votes
could lead to an embarrassing public defeat. At least a dozen of the
43 conservative "Blue Dogs," who worry about the "soft-on-defense"
stigma that has haunted the party, could bolt if Democrats move toward
withdrawal too aggressively. " There's a fine line that I hope will
not be blurred between micromanaging the war and assuring
accountability,"said Rep. Stephanie Herseth (S.D.), a Blue Dog leader.
"I don't think we should be overreacting to public opinion polls."'

On March 9, 2007 Representative Herseth's Washington office said they
did not deny her remarks.

Representative Stephanie Herseth insults the intelligence of the
American people by insinuating that their sacrifices of loved ones'
well-being, blood and lives, that their observations, their concerns,
and their problem-solving skills are so inferior, that appropriate
action, which is supported by a solid majority opinion of "we the
people,"is labeled by her as "overreacting".

Because South Dakota is SECOND in states' ranking, per capita, for total number of troop casualties
in Iraq, is it "overreacting" to want them home? Or will Stephanie wait until
South Dakota "beats out" Vermont, taking first place in troop
fatalities, before she decides that bringing our troops home is an
appropriate reaction  (to constituency unrest?), rather than an
"overreaction"?

The muddying phrase Stephanie uses which calls "micromanaging" and
"accountability" the two issues of concern, is a popular and useful
phrase lately for those in Congress who fear taking a strong decisive
stand to bring our troops home now. Attempting to block political
attacks from the Executive as well as assuming a need to pacify "the
public,"  Stephanies says words that try to smear these facts: both the initiation
and mismanagement of this war are criminal results of  conscious
deception and/or cowardice. The people who deceived and the people who
allowed deception, as well as the people without guts to decisively
end it and bring our troops home now, are culpable; and that cannot be
washed away by phraseology.

How does Stephanie dare put her fear for her political seat in this
"red" state first, above the safety and well being of our troops?!
South Dakota has been called one of the "reddest of the red" states.
That does not mean South Dakotans are blindly cheering the
greed-for-power-and-money ideology that   President Bush and Comrades
have revealed they hold in high esteem, well above democracy and
lives.

Why is Stephanie herself "overreacting" by following this greed-based,
fear-mongering, callous ideology of our Pro-Death President George
Bush? Why is she ignoring the wishes of her employer, the PEOPLE.
Not only will South Dakotans be further pained if she votes for Bush's
desire for more war money, but also, due to her influence in the Blue
Dog Coalition, EVERY American will feel the affect.

Stephanie must spread the courage, the guts, to vote against
Bush's desire to further fund his oil war with the supplemental. This
will be blood money to support the war, not the troops.

South Dakota is one of the "reddest" states, dripping red with blood
of trusting troops. They were sent by the reddest of reds, President
Bush whose blood is not shed, whose relatives' and friends' and
comrades' blood is not shed. They've shed nothing but crocodile tears,
for the blood, guts and real tears shed by others.

What has been their biggest sacrifice? Time spent fabricating lies to
manipulate America and the world.

Does Representative Stephanie Herseth really want to be one of them?
