WhiteSmoke Writing Software - Now with a British Accent

WhiteSmoke recently released the British English Edition of its award winning English writing software. The result of months of fine-tuning to the writing engine to accommodate variations in spelling and word usage, the British English Edition brings WhiteSmoke's advanced writing technology to a new audience of writers. More than just providing British English spelling of certain words, such as "colour" instead of "color", the British English Edition also works with an extended database of alternate words reflecting the variations in language use between written British and US English.

"Until now, WhiteSmoke's suite of English writing tools was primarily targeted at the US audience. Over the last half a year we have had many requests from the UK and Commonwealth countries for WhiteSmoke to be optimized for British English. With the new British English Edition, we have responded to these requests and extended WhiteSmoke's advanced language technologies to a whole new audience of potential users," says Liran Brenner, WhiteSmoke VP R&D. British English writers can now enjoy WhiteSmoke's grammar and punctuation correction, context-relevant spell check and patented text enrichment capabilities. A recent WhiteSmoke release also added an intuitive notification feature that provides instant feedback on grammar and spelling errors as the user writes.

Amit Greener, VP Marketing at WhiteSmoke, says: "WhiteSmoke has seen strong and steady growth over the last year, and the new British English version is a continuation of that positive growth. With more people writing in English for business and pleasure than at any time before, WhiteSmoke answers the need for a writing tool that facilitates quality communication. Having a firm foothold in the US market, we want to ensure WhiteSmoke's best-of-breed writing technology becomes a truly global English writing tool."

All WhiteSmoke versions – General Writing, Business Writing, Creative Writing and Executive Writing – are available immediately for British and US English.

I really enjoy the English language, and everything related to it -- English grammar and spelling, how people use English, how to write better English, etc. Almost everything I read and write is related to English somehow.
