Goracle Rising

I had the feeling the first time I saw An Inconvenient Truth.

I had it when I read The Assault on Reason.

I had it again when I saw his understated, partially holographic presence at Live Earth.

Al Gore is waging the most interesting presidential campaign in our nation’s history.

He’s not running for president, though, at least not in any conventional sense.

No back-slapping barbeques in Iowa.

Or pancake breakfasts in New Hampshire or Nevada.

In fact, he may skip the primaries altogether.

No late-night calls to big corporate funders. He won’t be collecting a big campaign war chest.

No slick campaign commercials.

No attack ads either.

He doesn’t need to introduce himself to voters.

And is anyone on the planet unclear about what he stands for?

He gets whatever publicity he wants, on all the networks, for nothing.

So he won’t owe any big corporations any big favors.

He’s beyond all that now.  He’s a man metamorphized.
