Big Brother Is Watching

Many law abiding citizens are incredulous that their own government is spying upon them; and rightly so. They are mystified that anyone could place them under suspicion of being a terrorist. Few of them have ever been convicted of a crime in their lives. So why does the government consider us a threat to national security?

To understand the question one has to comprehend the deranged minds of those who are investigating us. One must appreciate that some of the people who are running the government have hearts as dark as a black hole and nearly as turbulent. Their minds are a swirling vortex of infection and paranoia""a condition which separates them from healthy people. It is also an affliction that makes them extremely dangerous.

By national security they do not mean the security of ordinary Americans from foreign enemies, as one might reasonably suppose. They mean the financial security and privilege enjoyed by the rich and powerful. You see, in the lexicon of the privileged, we are the enemy. The rich and powerful hold in their hands the entire pie and they have no intention of sharing any of it with us. The peons (working class people) are supposed to be content to scramble for the few crumbs that fall from the tables of the rich. The peons are supposed to act as mere servants to power. We are supposed to be content with crumbs and serving as cannon fodder in wars not of our making. It has always been so in America. Our history bears it out.

We have come to a place in history where government is no longer a servant of the people. Government has been perverted into a tool of the obscenely wealthy""the corporations. It is used to control the masses; to insulate the rich and powerful from the rest of us.

Washington's power brokers know they are acting against the public interest and against the public will. They are so obsessed with hording wealth and power that they are capable of the most heinous crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, our history also bears this out. They understand that their hold on power and wealth are tenuous if the people ever organize and rebel. Their continuation depends upon keeping the people out of the equation. It depends upon keeping the masses in the dark about the sinister motives of the power brokers. The war on terror is an unimaginably lucrative business for those at the top of the food chain. It is hell for the rest of us who have to bear all of the costs but derive none of the benefit.

In reality the constitution and the law are regarded as little more than impediments to the privileged. To them the constitution is no more than a "God dammed piece of paper." Never a real soldier, the pretend Commander in Chief, the war president, is one of the privileged. His personal history bears it out. The Bush Dynasty, like those that came before it, is founded upon war profiteering and crooked business deals forged in dark places by dark souls. It is well known how Prescott Bush made a fortune on the Nazis war machine. But it makes no difference to brazen capitalists how their fortunes are made. To them money is money and war is always profitable""especially when they never have to pay its cost or suffer its consequences.

Whenever groups of citizens organize to oppose America's bogus war on terror, the participants represent a threat to the privileged. They endanger the obscene accumulation of wealth and privilege amassed at the expense of the rest of us. So from the perspective of the war mongers the peace makers are the terrorists who intend to shut down the very lucrative war machine. The flow of cash must be maintained at all cost, even if it bankrupts the government itself""which is likely one of its intended consequences. When all of the social programs that millions of our poor depend upon are no more""the private sector moves in to fill the void. The corporations will be rolling in the dough and we will be forced to prey upon one another in order to survive. The stocks of an already burgeoning privatized prison industry will shoot through the roof.

Bush and company know that Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden never posed a threat to the United States. Both were the creation of the CIA. They are only boogey men conjured up by the Pentagon to keep the masses frightened and compliant. We the people are the real threats to power whenever we demand justice. The corporate oligarchy and their pawns in government are the real terrorists. Their actions speak for themselves. Behold all that they have wrought not only in Iraq but around the world. The proof is in the rubble and broken lives.

We must understand that in the twisted mind of the corporate oligarchy ordinary citizens are the avowed enemy, just as surely as democracy is its eternal foe. Cindy Sheehan and the millions of us who act against the prefabricated invasion and occupation of Iraq are viable threats to the war mongers in Washington. If we succeed in shutting down their war, the billions of dollars that have been flowing into the pockets of the wealthy""especially the defense contractors""might be interrupted. In a nutshell, that is why those in power are monitoring our activities. That is why they are wasting our tax dollars investigating law abiding citizens. They have a vested interest in preventing our organizing. Think of it as a kind of preemptive strike to keep us from coming together. That should sound vaguely familiar.
