The peacemakers have gained a lot of ground in the spiritual battle against the warmongers over the past few months. The warmongers are responding by digging in their heels, and threatening to bomb Iran, invade Syria, take over Saudi Arabia. They are insisting on torture and on packing the Supreme Court.
The peacemakers got a big boost from Cindy Sheehan's bold question to the pResident, "For what noble cause did my son have to die?" Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame have done the country a great service, by exposing the Niger yellowcake lie, and by refusing to be intimidated by Plame's outing, and by making sure there was a proper investigation, with a tough and fair special prosecutor. Fitzgerald is doing his job well.
As responsible citizens of a democratic republic, with freedom of speech written into our Constitution, we all have a choice to make, as the country becomes increasingly polarized. I hear from friends that it is very difficult these days to be a "blue" in a predominantly "red" area. It takes the courage of a Sheehan or a WIlson to speak out. On the other hand, "blues" are increasingly numerous, according to the rating polls.
The "Reds" make a point of being ruthless and unscrupulous. They have controlled Congress through a combination of bribery and blackmail. They shamelessly fight dirty, smearing their opponents rather than dealing with the truth. Rush Limbaugh actually had the gall to call Joe Wilson a traitor!
It's scary to go up against them. They prefer to be sneaky and destroy reputations and livelihoods, but they kill if they deem it necessary. They care nothing for the US Constitution, common decency and fair play, or for actually obeying the Ten Commandments.
We all have decisions to make. If we speak the truth, we may find ourselves fired, shunned, threatened, arrested, vandalized or physically harmed. If we don't speak the truth, we may soon find the Blackwater militia patrolling our streets, and Halliburton commandeering our property. There are plans afoot to tranquillize with Zyprexa any of our kids who show some spunk.
We are in the valley of decision. As Cindy Sheehan says, you cannot sit on the fence any more. Either you oppose the war in Iraq, or you support the satanists now in power. Either you work for their impeachment, or you collaborate with them. There is no middle ground.
God is with the peacemakers.
Psalm 23: 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for Thou are with me,
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Let us take courage from the shining examples of those who are already suffering to keep us free and restore our peace. Let us be thankful that John Conyers is the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, which conducts impeachment hearings, and that there are a number of people left in the House with integrity. Let us realize that we the people, with our marches and our blogs, our bumper stickers and groups, are winning this spiritual battle of armageddon.
In the name of the Prince of Peace, Carol Wolman
