(State of Illinois statistics 2003) Drug convictions in Illinois made up 44.7% of its total criminal convictions in 2001. This is above the national average of 41.2%. Powdered cocaine was involved in 26.5% of these drug convictions, 39.1% involved crack cocaine, 7.7% involved heroin, 9.4% involved marijuana, 14.6% involved methamphetamines, and 2.6% involved other drugs.
