The above link will take you to some more detail about the satellite and the missile that will be shot at it and other relevant articles. It's something about some kind of rocket fuel or something that might cause some distress if it reached the ground and was inhaled or something by people. This fuel may also be a carcinogenic. The missile has to be re programed to hit a satellite instead of another incoming missile. It's all very expensive especially the failed falling satellite. The missile will be launched by the Navy at sea. The trajectory is all done by computers and then on board guidance systems.
Some say it's a waste of time and not necessary. Some say it just a chance to show we can shoot down something in space too. Some say it's just GW being a cowboy, others say it's much more. But this is my blog and I say, shoot it down. I want to see it done. I would like to see if a Missile were launched at my town that the Military Industrial Complex is up to the task of intercepting it. They've sure been paid enough, let's see some fireworks up there. This could be one of those rare moments of National pride. Or maybe just one of those universal collective sighs.
Missile defense is important. Why? Because we have enemies all around the world just wanting to launch an attack on America? I don't know. I'm more worried about a missile getting launched by accident. We have so many armed missiles fueled, maintained and ready to go that it's just too possible the one we will really need to shoot down is the one we launched ourselves. That's right, the one that goes straight up and is going to come straight back down. That would be a great time to know we have given ourselves an opportunity to intercept and neutralize that missile and warhead. Since the world is not going to dismantle all these missiles and put them back on a shelf, we need a way to protect ourselves from our own madness and incompetence as well as any enemy.
So shoot it down Mr. President. Please do this one thing right.
