But the TV program didn't cover the results--explosive situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, emboldened Iran and N. Korea and our huge losses including our loss of the moral authority needed to lead the fight against terrorism. Due to Bush's disasterous actions, the world sympathy received after 9/11 jammed into a quick reverse. Suddenly we became the most hated, most dangerous and now seen as anti-Islam--a big, big bonus for terrorism.
Since Bush was so dead wrong in Iraq plus all other issues, including all domestic issues, I suggest that his moniker be changed from George W to George D.W. -- the D.W. standing for DEAD WRONG.
HERE'S MORE--if you are still not convinced
The need to attack the Taliban was clear, but later thinking got cloudy. Too few troops let bin Laden escape at Tora Bora. He was monitored there talking to his followers. More troops were requested. CIA's Hank Crumpton personally asked DW for the troops. No response--a huge loss swept under the rug. Then, DW withdrew needed resources. Promised nation building was slight allowing it to morph into a narcostate. President Karzai, our good ally, plans to leave due to his reconstruction-related drop in popularity. Now the Taliban is evolving into an army of fighters. The Iraqi insurgence has motivated & shown the Taliban the way--the IEDs, suicide bombers--a feedback from our hasty leave to charge off to an Iraq fiasco.
--Iran. DEAD WRONG:
--N. Korea. DEAD WRONG:
Kim pulled out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in '02 after the White House accused North Korea of enriching uranium and breaking previous agreements. Then, DW insulted Kim while not talking to him as a matter of principle aggravating an unpredictable, nuclear dictator, one who fears a U.S. attack, has wanted to talk directly to the U.S. and one who is an arms merchant with a buyer named al Qaeda. The N. Korean nuclear program marches on. A nuclear armed terrorist here is our worst nightmare.
--Homeland Security/FEMA. DEAD WRONG:
Assignment of funds to possible terrorist targets has been absurd.
DW opposed forming the 9/11 commission and then was slight in implementing. Kean of the commission is appalled saying priority is missing with little urgency to protect. He gave many failing grades. Liquid explosives have been known of for years--a big, whatayaknow surprise just lately.
Positions regarding the Quran held by extremists should be clarified -- that they do not represent mainstream Islamic thinking. DW has been mum on the issue. Suicide bombers are seen to be smiling. No wonder, with the extremists' take on the Quran, they're about to meet 72 virgins. Homeland Security is spending too much time and money "defending" America against its Muslim citizens.
--Missile Defense. MOSTLY WRONG:
DW initially appeared to be a big winner on missile defense. He broke the ABM treaty with Russia and then installed ABM sites in Alaska and California. But John Bolton was the driving force. DW, though, rushed a ridiculed ABM system to operational status. Each ABM missile carries a single 121 pound "kill vehicle" The system had failed many rigged tests and drew massive criticism. It would be overwhelmed by an incoming ICBM with many warheads and decoys. Worse, decoy detection has been very problematic. The need to rush was not obvious with no near threats then, except completion time was at reelection time.
