The sign of a healthy body is easy to assess with all the equipment now available and the sign of a healthy mind/spirit is the ability to laugh at ourselves and each other – PERIOD.
The following are examples of what I mean, and although I appreciate that English humour does not sometimes travel well I hope you get the drift of where I am going on this one and can come up with your own examples - my capacity for humour is bottomless!!!!
Western Religion
I have never been comfortable with the seriousness of the pomp and ritual of our traditional belief systems and how we are made to feel second or third rate humans for the sake of control. In spite of this however the Jewish faith also has a wonderful sense of humour.
And so to the jokes - I really believe “God” would laugh at this one:
And the Lord said unto Moses “Come Fourth”
. . . and he came fifth, so “God” lost all his beer money!
Eastern Religion
It makes more sense to me but is also open to humour – try this:
A Novice monk was sent into the hills to meditate by his Master. The Novice sat on the brow of a hill and began to contemplate his navel. The more he focussed the more it looked like the top of a screw.
Eventually he grasped it and began to turn it in a clockwise direction. He twisted and twisted until it was protruding from his stomach such a way that he needed to stand up to continue turning it.
As he stood up his ar*e fell off!!
Political Correctness
This must be the saddest of all human endeavours - bar none!
