The Iraq Study Group that was created by Congress came forward with two options concerning the future of the U.S. occupation. Option # three called for an all-out effort by the U.S for stabilization, to suppress the insurgency, and to strengthen Iraq's army and police force. Option # four gives the option of re-deployment of the 140,000 troops from Iraq back home, or to other countries. (The Nation, 12/8/06.) The vote, which occurred last summer, only received two votes for Option four. These votes have changed drastically; the vote is now 50/50.
