Breaking News: Federal Chief Judge John Sedwick Appoints Nelson Cohen Temporary US Attorney For Alaska Pending his Nomination By President Bush and Confirmation By the US Senate.
After many phone calls and investigating by this site, Nelson Cohen's secretary Traci Ross has confirmed that on Monday October 15th, Chief Judge John Sedwick in SECRET appointed Nelson Cohen to continue as Patriot Act US Attorney for Alaska. As per Traci Ross, Nelson Cohen declined to make the information available to the public of Alaska as was his option given to him by the Dept of Justice in Washington, D.C.
Obviously the Republicans have learned nothing so far in the US Attorney scandal. Keeping appointments secret does nothing to enhance the public's belief that integrity will return to the Justice Department.
Chief Judge John Sedwick is a Bush 41 appointee and a Republican ideologist. He is the Federal judge in the recent trials of Alaskan politicians. Including those of his neighbor, Bill Allen.
As per the Democrat Nomination Clerk of the Judiciary Committee of the US Senate, President Bush has not nominated Nelson Cohen as of yet for the permanent position. Nelson Cohen would then have to face the full vetting and scrutiny of the US Senate. His term as Patriot Act US Attorney expired on Friday when the Democrat controlled House and Senate corrected the clause in the Patriot Act that allowed the US Attorney General to indefinitely appoint US Attorney's without oversight. That bill S214 was signed into law by Predisent Bush last June.
