You care passionately about an issue. You read vociferously on-line, send out emails to your friends, family, comrades, colleagues. You write letters to the editor. You correspond with leaders in the field. You have the makings of an OpEdNews subject editor. We will empower you to reach many more people. We'll help you open doors to reach experts, leaders, celebrities to contact, interview, recruit to write articles. review books and DVDs... We'll give you added credibility as an activist to get press passes, get review copies of books and DVDs. You will take charge of a subject area. (Check out Table of Contents for our Subjects, or tell us a new one and we'll add it.) You'll add links to the newest and best articles and op-eds on your subject. You'll, if you like, write articles. You'll invite guest writers, recruit new, regular writer contributors, recruit assistant or co-editors to help you, use the power of OpEdnews-- it's content management tools and its reader reach to make a difference in your area of interest.
Being a volunteer editor involves finding and posting links to articles, contacting writers for permission to reprint their articles, recruiting writers to become writers for opednews.com.
If you know what subject or subject group you want to cover, you can focus on that and build the strength of our coverage in that area, inviting writers, expanding our link and article coverage.
IN the next few days, we'll be starting our local inside pages. All states, countries and any county or city can have a local page. Some of the articles we cover will only go on inside local or subject pages, not on the front page. Those allocations can be decided by a subject or local page editor.
Those are the basics. Joan Brunwasser, who's editor for voting integrity, has been posting info on events, tools for activism, reviewing DVDs, books, etc.
We will soon be able to offer advertising by subject or subject groupings. Getting advertisers would be great too.
