Working together, PDA organized over 150 "Out of Iraq" events with the After Downing Street Coalition around the country yesterday. Progressive candidates for Congress, local elected officials and grassroots leaders all spoke out demanding we "Get out of Iraq" and hold President Bush accountable for the crimes committed before and during the disastrous Iraq war. Together we are making a difference!

Highlights included:

* Overflow crowds turned away in Sacramento, Chicago, Wisconsin and Michigan.

* Congressmembers John Conyers, Major Owens, Jim McDermott, Jay Inslee, and Bob
Filner speaking in Michigan, New York, Washington and California respectively.

* PDA Board Member Cindy Sheehan spoke with actor/activist Sean Penn at the Town
Hall meeting in Sacramento

* PDA Board Member John Bonifaz addressed the Town Hall meeting in Boston

* Air America / Nation Radio Host Laura Flaunders moderated the Town hall
meeting in New York and spent the first hour of her radio program talking about
the day.

We demonstrated again that a growing majority of Americans want this war ended
and the President held accountable for his lies regarding the war. The polls
show a majority of Americans want "Out of Iraq." The same polls show a majority
of Americans want impeachment proceedings if Bush lied about the war. And a
majority believes President Bush lied about the war!

PDA was the first national organization to challenge the Democratic Party
leadership and support the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) by taking the
lead in the Ohio Vote Count Challenge, the Bankruptcy Bill Fight, the Downing
Street Minutes Campaign, the Out of Iraq Campaign and now the Campaign for
Accountability.

We need you to do two things to help us keep the heat on:

1. Help PDA by participating in our National Call In for Accountability Day
tomorrow January 9th. Tens of thousands of PDA members and other concerned
citizens will call Members of Congress, urging them to cosponsor three bills:
H.Res.635 to create a select committee to investigate and to make
recommendations on grounds for impeachment, H.Res.636 to censure Bush, and
H.Res.637 to censure Cheney. Please call your Congressmember at his/her district
office tomorrow and ask him/her to support Congressmember Conyers campaign for
Accountability. Click here to take action:

2. Please take two minutes and make an online contribution so PDA can continue
our important work together. The 2006 election cycle is here, the struggle to
win back Congress has begun. We are the only national group working an
inside/outside strategy to build the progressive wing of our party. Your
contribution will allow us to send PDA national staff across the country to
visit PDA chapters to organize, mobilize and deliver the progress grassroots
vote in 2006. Plans are already underway to travel to Ohio, New York,
Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Arizona. With your financial support, we can get
on the road: https://www.pdamerica.org/donate.php

We need your continued help - nobody can take your place. Please share this
letter with your family and friends. Thank you.

In gratitude,

Tim, Kevin, Sherry, Nancy, Angie, and Mike
