The Gilman International Scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and offers awards for undergraduate study abroad. Nathan, who is a non-traditional student and former journalist and columnist, maintains a 3.5 grade point average as a History major.
Nathan, who still writes for two Temple publications, The Parable and the Temple Column, also contributes monthly to the Bucks County Courier-Times, and regularly to OpEd News.com using his nickname, Dusty.
"I was shocked the other day when I got home and found a large envelope tucked underneath my door," Nathan said. "I opened it and it was a Citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, House of Representatives, commending my Gilman award and acceptance to King's College in London. I've never had such a wonderful honor. It's a frame-job for sure."
