My name is Heidi Combs. I was born and raised in De Smett, South Dakota. Now I work for NARAL Pro-Choice America. I am writing today - sincerely and desperately - to ask you to help me, and to help women and their families in my home state by fighting the abortion ban as hard as you can.

Here's what's going on: the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families successfully collected enough petitions to put a measure to repeal the abortion ban on the ballot for this fall's election - thanks to the support of many of you. The courageous, amazing people there are working day and night to reach every single voter in the state before the election. With only 89 days left for my friends and family to protect their right to choose, maybe forever, they need your support. Today. Please, click here to make a contribution.

You probably know that running a campaign - putting ads on TV, knocking on doors, putting messages in newspapers and on radio - costs a huge amount of money. And, you should also know that the anti-choice forces in South Dakota are extremely well-funded by people from all over the country who want to use this ban to overturn Roe v. Wade nationwide. Any day now, we expect these outside forces to launch the most aggressive, most hateful campaign my home state has ever seen.

Everyone - EVERYONE - I know in South Dakota, including our affiliate NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota, is donating, volunteering, talking to friends and family. The simple truth is that we are not enough. We are simply and unfortunately not enough; which is why we need you.

Every donation made today will go directly to the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families. A symbolic gift of $89 for 89 days until the election would help a great deal. Another helpful symbolic gift would be $150 to get our ad on local morning news , or $250 to put it on Good Morning America or Nightline. But every donation - $10, $30, $100 - will make an immediate difference in getting ads on the air, paying for field organizers, and funding critical get-out-the-vote activities. Click here, right now, while you're thinking about it.

It makes me sick to see the kind of propaganda that the anti-choicers are spreading around my state - calling me, my friends, even my family, and every other pro-choice person in the state "immoral." That's why putting ads on television and in newspapers, and sending trained organizers door-to-door throughout South Dakota's towns and cities is so important right now. Our mission is to counteract the vicious lies of our opposition and to reach people with the truth.

There's one bright spot: money does go further in South Dakota. An ad on Good Morning America or Nightline costs just $250! Could your donation help change the opinion of a South Dakota voter? I hope so. I deeply, deeply hope so. But it won't happen unless you make that donation, and make it today, while we still have a chance.

Thank you, from the bottom of heart, for your help today. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Heidi Combs,
Graduate of the University of South Dakota

P.S. The people at the South Dakota Campaign for Healthy Families can't do much until they know how much they can spend on ads and organizing. That's why they need your donation as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your quick response.
