Tomorrow (Friday), the Senate is scheduled to vote on H.R. 5970 which is a $750 billion Estate Tax Giveaway clothed in an action to raise the minimum wage by just $2 an hour for America's lowest paid workers. America's minimum wage workers haven't gotten a raise in over nine years! They deserve a raise without strings attached that give the rich a massive tax break. The bill will give bonus tax cuts averaging $1.3 million to the 8,200 richest estates in the country.
The outcome of the vote is still unclear. We can make a difference on this one. Especially for low-income workers, many of whom are women! In addition, the bill would hurt food service workers and others who rely on tips. In the 7 states where they are guaranteed a minimum wage, the tips will be counted toward that minimum.
o Vote against H.R. 5970! Don't hold the minimum wage increase hostage to more tax give-away for the rich!
o Support increasing the minimum wage, which has been frozen for 9 years.
o Support a free standing vote on the minimum wage increase.
