Doesn't this man get it? He's supposed to be aggressively confronting McCain about life and death national/international issues, not telling the world over and over again how much he AGREES with McCain!
If we took a poll, I bet the vast majority of Democrats (especially progressives) would think THERE IS NOTHING IF LIFE Obama would "take off the gloves" for.
So what's the deal with this guy? Is he neurologically unable to be confrontational about ANYTHING? Maybe his endocrine system is defective and there's a smiley face on his adrenals.
All and all, the debate didn't really lose any ground, but neither did it gain any significant ground. No, it was more like an academic debate (at least on Obama's side). Gentlemanly conversations with a man (McCain) who is WW3 incarnate. Gentlemanly conversations with a man who just picked a religious fanatic to be his VP who honestly thinks the Earth is a Motel 6 she's just passing through on her way to comic book salvation or damnation. Gentlemanly conversations with a man who is so obsessed with sex he can't get through a single interview without making lewd and sleazy remarks, e.g., the topless beauty queen contest he suggested his wife participate in ON TELEVISION. Gentlemanly conversations with a man who is a kind of Alzheimer's God of War.
But a thousand times more important than the male menopause moments, is why isn't Obama passionately and patriotically confronting what's left of McCain with THE ISSUES?
You know, "the issues": like global warming and tax breaks for multimillionaires and billionaires, and the Iraq money cow oil for elites, and the rape of Mother Nature by devils for hell Texas energy corporations, and the trashing of environmental protections, and the stealing of retirements and heath care programs from the working class (hey, Obama, remember the working class?), and the total lack of national monitoring of giant pharmaceutical companies who now are free to make ANYTHING and claim it is "medicine" (yeah, in your dreams), and the overwhelming evidence that the fascist Republicans are already stealing their third Presidential election. And on and on and on.
Thank God the jury is still out and maybe Obama will surprise himself and start fighting the good fight for America. The operant word here is "fight" but so far it has NEVER played any significant role in the speeches and strategies of Barack Obama (and his criminally brain dead "advisors", who when they appear on talk shows always speak in hushed voices about pap and timidly stay light years away from the core issues of this election.)
So what do we do? We've got this guy who Progressive Americans got through the primaries, even though he has never said ONE positive thing about liberals and progressives the instant he became a candidate. Hell, he publicly agrees more with McCain than dreadful left of center Democrats.
