"Cowardice asks the question, "Is it safe?" Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?" And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?"

"But Conscience asks the question "Is it right?"

"And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because Conscience tells him it is right."-Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

[July 23, 2009] A few minutes after midnight on July 22, 2009 and in my role as the only Feature Correspondent- as well as an Editor- for The Palestine Telegraph, I published "The Magdalene, Antichrists and 'Christian' Zionism" [ http://www.wearewideawake.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1347&Itemid=222 ] as an Opinion/View piece.

It was second in a series I am writing and is the 'sandwich' essay between "Agitating for Freedom: Anniversaries, Dreams and Persistence" and this piece, which was to be about the the stages of the soul, but has evolved into my farewell address as a feature correspondent for The Palestine Telegraph.

When I awoke this morning I was fully conscious that it was the second Thursday of a global call to Fast [http://www.fastforgaza.net/statement ] and pray for Gaza so that the leaders of our world would wake up to the misery and injustices they have inflicted on the 1.5 million open air prisoners of The Strip.

My prayer, hope and focus for the day-and everyday-is that the leaders of the world will seek security for Israel by doing justice for Gaza Palestine which requires telling the truth and ending the siege and occupation.

On both Thursday's of the Fast for Gaza, I consumed only water and coffee during daylight hours and kept my heart and mind centered on the children of Gaza and I recalled [as I do daily] the images of the children of Gaza photographed by Photojournalist Sameh Habeeb.

I crossed paths with Sameh via the Internet nearly two years ago after receiving an email from him asking to be connected with USA media. As a member of the New Fourth Estate [activist reporter] who does not take assignments from editors or paychecks from conglomerates-all I could offer Sameh, was an introduction to my editors at Arabisto.com, Peoples Voice and Opednews.com.

It was shortly after Israel's War on Gaza, that Sameh emailed me about his dream to change the world through The Palestine Telegraph.

Sameh published my words as The Palestine Telegraph's mission statement under the link "The PT Team" and as of this writing they remain:

The Palestine Telegraph: We Will Change Our World

"Never doubt that a few, thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

When the assault on Gaza erupted on December 27, 2008 through January 17, 2009: 1,412 human beings lost their lives, the majority women and children.

3,700 babies were also born during that time of violence.

This first edition of The Palestine Telegraph is dedicated to every baby born, every innocent lost, and all who died in the cycle of violence.

The Palestine Telegraph is dedicated to changing our world. This generation will not endure denial of their inalienable human rights. They will know a life of liberty, which means freedom, and the happiness of a true childhood.

The Palestine Telegraph is an all volunteer effort - our words, photos, and videos are our only weapons and our doors are wide open to thoughtful, committed citizens out to change our world.

The Palestine Telegraph welcomes submissions from professional journalists, citizen journalists, and all forces for peace and justice.
