note; I made a change in the title, which had been "Who's Supporting Ahmadinejead or Opposing Mousavi?"

This title more accurately reflects what I meant to explore in my article. rob kall

I just got off the phone with Abbas Sadeghian, an old friend of almost 30 years who was born in Iran. He's been in the US for about 35 years. He is thrilled with what looks like a revolution in Iran and is hopeful that the theocratic dictatorship that rides herd on the faux democracy there will be overthrown.

Then,  there's Paul Craig Roberts, a former Assistant Treasury Secretary who I have grown to greatly respect for his take non many issues. He's been writing about how the US and the CIA are at the base of the demonstrations in Iran.

Tehran Protests by .faramarz

There are plenty of people taking both sides of this. John Kusumi, a China watcher, writes an article, Iran's Day of Blackness In Perspective, in which he writes, "Around 3pm today, I tweeted:  "As the Iranian government turns to violence, it loses moral legitimacy and authority. It is time for Obama to condemn the dictator(ship)."

I commented on his article:

Fascinating

There are Obama critics who want him to respond and others who see this whole uprising as a CIA and Mossad initiated series of events.

Can it be both? I guess it would fly that Obama could cover for CIA involvement by protesting the treatment of the protesters, even if the goal of the CIA is to simply weaken the current leadership, since the last time there was unrest that could have led to an overthrow, Bush senior watched and allowed them to be eaten alive as the uprising failed.

The other side, which many adhere to, is that Obama is using a gentle touch for fear his involvement could be used against the protesters, that the Ayatollahs in charge will accuse the US of involvement and use Obama's words to support their accusations.

We know Bush would have spoken loudly against the attacks on the Protesters. If Obama did, he'd be acting like Bush. If he doesn't he's damned as well.

It's pretty complicated to me and it may just be that the CIA IS involved and the attempt at an uprising IS real too.

So far, the goal here at OEN is to keep the conversation flowing, with different perspectives aired.

For example, I  had a dynamite  radio show with former assistant Secretary of the Treasury Paul Craig Roberts and expan Iranian, Dr. Abbas Sadeghian.
