Brett McGurk

According to the  latest from Foreign Policy  and today's  resignation at the Wall Street Journal , Brett McGurk's problems are growing, kind of like Pinocchio's nose.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) is the latest in a group of Republican Senators questioning McGurk's  nomination, the first to raise questions was Sen. John McCain (R-AZ),

"His concerns regarding Mr. McGurk's time in Iraq, particularly related to his failure to negotiate a residual force as everyone envisioned, remain," said McCain spokesman Brian Rogers.

He was soon followed by Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) - who has cancelled meetings with McGurk over his dealings with an alleged Hezbollah commander as well as the allegations of a rogue video of him receiving fellatio on the rooftop of the Republican Palace in Iraq. Although the Hezbollah commander issues seems to have been resolved, Sen. James Risch (R-ID) is now back peddling and expressing his reservations after praising the nomination last week,

"Prior to these email revelations, I had reservations about confirming Brett McGurk as ambassador to Iraq," Risch told The Cable through a spokesman. "Now that additional issues have been raised, more information will be needed and I reserve final judgment until all the facts are brought to light."

The nomination still has to be voted on by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, however no date for the vote has been set. No one has yet to place a formal hold on his nomination.

Very little is being said by anyone about the alleged sex video from Iraq and it is unknown who actually has it. What we do know, is that the State Dept. has yet to address the racy emails and instead insists McGurk is  "uniquely qualified" for the position.

McGurk's former mistress turned wife, Wall Street Journal reporter, Gina Chon has just resigned over the email scandal. The WSJ published the announcement today saying,

"...that while based in Iraq she violated the Dow Jones Code of Conduct by sharing certain unpublished news articles with [McGurk], then a member of the U.S. National Security Council in Iraq."

Now, if only someone would come forward with the video...
