- A Eurogroup meeting of Finance Ministers from the 17 countries that use the euro as their official currency took place at the European Council building in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday. The EU Directorate sent a message to the Greek Minister of Finance, Yannis Stournaras, firmly stating that there will be no changes made to the terms of the Memorandum. The Greek government-of-the-regime has been ordered to continue imposing the measures the Memorandum prescribes. AND, effective immediately, an additional 3 billion euros must be squeezed from an already beleaguered citizenry! This figure reflects the feeling that the Troika's original program has not produced the expected results. The Troika is intent on intensifying austerity policies and ensuring that the working class carries the full burden.

It must be said that while campaigning for the June 17th elections, the three coalition parties promised the Greek people that they would renegotiate the terms of the Memorandum. However, not one month into the new coalition government, the terms of the Memorandum have been accelerated and increased. Clearly, this represents political fraud.

------------

- Nikos Nikolopoulos, the now-former Minister of Finance, says he resigned because the government did not keep its campaign promise to the people of Greece -- to renegotiate the terms of the Memorandum. He submitted his letter of resignation on Sunday.

------------

- Antonis Samaras, the Prime Minister of Greece, has announced that the first in a long line of the profitable public Greek companies up FOR SALE is the electric company. There is also intense interest in Greece's publicly-owned gas company.

The response of the Greek people to the privatization of profitable Greek public companies will undoubtedly include strikes, rallies and marches. It is certain that the Greek people will also organize to resist the sale of the old International Airport. This land has been allocated to them and was to be used as a public park, badly needed because of the serious pollution problem in Athens.

------------

- The three leaders of the coalition government will meet tomorrow, in Athens. They will be officially informed of the results of Monday's Eurogroup meeting. Wolfgang Schaeuble, the German Finance Minister, callously remarked that he expects actions and not words from the Greek government-of-the-regime and that Greeks must sort out their problems immediately.

It raises the obvious question " Who, in Greece, elected Mr. Schaeuble?

------------

- Part of the current humanitarian crisis in Greece is the tragic situation in the Greek hospitals. There is a huge problem keeping disposable items in stock. Suppliers will not make deliveries to hospitals because the hospitals' funds have been cut off as part of the austerity measures imposed by the Troika. There is a tragic lack of personnel, medicine and disposable material used in daily practice in hospitals. Right now, there are only enough supplies in stock to last about three months. If the government turns its back and continues to hold back funds from the country's hospitals, the hospitals will no longer be able to function. Already, in the western Peloponnese, a major hospital is closing, placing thousands of people in that area in immediate danger. The Memorandum with the Troika does not permit the Greek state to finance the hospitals.
