I would merely have responded to this story at the place it was posted, but Microsoft has censored every post I have ever made to a Microsoft comments section. Three or four in a row; it's not worth my time to share my opinions with a "gateway for public news access" that censorious, if not paranoid.

Thus, I am sharing it here on Facebook, or Meta, whatever it wants to be called. My followers, official or merely friendly, know about the war FB waged on me, mostly before changing its name.

However, the list of places where a cogent commenter can actually attempt to reach a mass audience of other such people is diminishing rapidly. Therefore, the default position is to at least try on a site with mechanisms I recognize for posting, plus a fair certainty that enough people with brains remain here because, like me, they have seen their access diminish, and are unwilling to devolve to Twitter, Kik, Tiktok or anything like them.

There is no reason an 18-year-old should be able to buy an assault rifle from a licensed gun dealer without the gun dealer first informing the prospective buyer that a background check will be conducted, and assuming there are no red flags, they can possess the gun in two weeks.

I've been in the fight against war, fascism, injustice and inhumanity for 47 years. I was at MayDay, 1971, (more...)
