When Washington D.C. became the
capitol of the United States, there became symbols of the freedom our
forefathers fought and won for our
independence. One of the great statues is Freedom. "The bronze Statue of
Freedom by Thomas Crawford is the crowning feature of the Dome of the United
States Capitol. The statue is a classical female figure with long, flowing hair
wearing a helmet with a crest composed of an eagle's head and feathers. The
helmet is encircled by nine stars. She wears a classical dress secured with a
brooch inscribed "U.S." Over it is draped a heavy, flowing, toga-like robe
fringed with fur and decorative balls. Her right hand rests upon the hilt of a
sheathed sword wrapped in a scarf; in her left hand she holds a laurel wreath
of victory and the shield of the United States with 13 stripes. Ten bronze
points tipped with platinum are attached to her headdress, shoulders, and
shield for protection from lightning. The lower part of the pedestal is
decorated with fasces (symbols of the authority of government) and wreaths. The
pedestal is 18-1/2 feet high and almost doubles the total height. The crest of
Freedom's headdress rises 288 feet above the East Front Plaza. I find it sad
that our senators and representatives do not consider the true meaning of "We
the People" I wonder if any of them ever stop and look up at her and say "Thank you."
We the people of these United States are the majority over the 'person corporations.' When the Supreme Court's decision gave them all rights, it gave corporations great power because the larger corporations have the most power and they have the most money. Corporate banking has become an overgrown vine with tentacles all over the world. It doesn't sound fair does it?
From my research and perspective, J.C. Bancroft Davis, a court reporter and former railroad president placed the "ruling" of personhood into the Black's Law Dictionary way back in 1886 in the now famous case of Santa Clara County vs Southern Pacific Railroad Company, basing the rulings on an illegal maneuver, however the court did not rule on personhood.
The 14th Amendment does not mention the word 'corporation.' I went to Black's Law Dictionary, Fourth Edition 1951 and looked up the word "Person." I found that a corporation is a "person" because person is used in the first clause of the XIVth Amendment. This is due to an illegal statement in the Black's Law Dictionary based on a court reporter insert in 1886. I think the Supreme Court hoodwinked us because person or persons as given in the 14th Amendment, says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Are all corporations operating in these United States born here? Are they naturalized and do they take an Oath of Citizenship as a foreign national? I think not.
With the recent decision by the Supreme Court judges (I do not call them justices) We now have a decision by the majority of five to "Reject Corporate Spending Limit." This means that the billionaires and millionaires can pump big dollars into a campaign.What this can also mean for we the people is do not vote for Republicans.
Check out the backgrounds also of the Democrats. Much as I like the Libertarians, I have learned that casting my vote to them was like spitting in the ocean. Unfortunately we have these two major parties and we need to shift through their backgrounds carefully.
Corporations hire people to be their mouthpiece with our legislators and the people hired by corporations are well paid 'lobbyists.' An article from the Pew Research Center states "the explosion of religion lobbyists over the past several decades and their lobbying has become almost a $400 million industry." This is an indication that they have paid lobbyists in Washington D.C. If religion lobbyists can afford a $400 million lobbyist industry, consider the amount corporations pay their lobbyists.
On November 7, 2011, 60 Minutes had an interview with Jack Abramoff a former lobbyist who was sent to prison for bribery. Abramoff told Lesley Stahl of CBS that "very few members of Congress do not accept some form of bribery. He says the top way to exert influence over a lawmaker is to promise a future, lucrative job to a staffer. "I am talking about giving a gift to somebody who makes a decision on behalf of the public and at the end of the day that's really what bribery is," Abramoff says, according to the excerpts. "But it's done every day and it's still being done ... There were very few members ... who didn't at some level participate in that."
The website Defrauding America.com has a section titled "Congressional Culture of Bribes," which I recommend. It is time for the American people to show their outrage in another avenue other than the Occupy movement. Become a part of the We the People Movement and bombard Congressional members demanding an end to bribery. Lawmakers should be prohibited from becoming lobbyists upon retirement. If they do, their federal pensions should stop.
The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution of the United States of America."
It is time for "We the People" to become a We the People Movement. This movement has no rules, no dues, no board, no officers, no phone calls, no asking for contributions and no by-laws other than a self-agreement to let government officials know the changes you want. We have been a nation overpowered by corporate world with a bevy of lobbyists who pressure our legislature officials to do their bidding on the national and state levels.
We the People can become our own lobbyists. It is not necessary to go to Washington, D.C. We have email and fax to do our lobbying. We can begin our own We the People Lobbyist Movement. We are each individuals and we each have our own issues. However, we can link mind to mind by choosing to be our own lobbyist using a new format by way of emails and faxes.
We tell our self "I pledge to myself that I will write my legislators at least once a week and tell them what action I want them to take." At the top of the email or fax, write the statement: I am a We the People Lobbyist. This is important because the more they read those words, the more they will pay attention.
As our own lobbyist, it is time we each research the issues and not depend upon the mainstream media. Check out the bills in committees and those that are ready to be voted on. I doubt if our congress representatives or senators take the time to read the fine print.
Whatever your issue is, it is important that you personally contact your senator, congressperson, state governors and legislators by email or fax and tell them what you want to be changed or happen, and please place in your heading: I am a lobbyist for We the People Movement. Invite others to join.
