What is Antifa for? To Make People's Knees Jerk

Facebook has removed the pages of a number of far-right groups. And finally, at the bottom of an interesting, and somewhat problematical, article I note that finally, someone understands the conflation noted below.

I have been writing about this conflation for years, and most recently responding to this article, by John Haltiwanger, writing for Business Insider, about Barr disinforming America about antifa.

Facebook, announcing the group's removal, said it would also delete pages associated with the "QAnon" conspiracy theory, and continue to delete accounts "when they discuss potential violence." It also conflated armed paramilitary groups with anti-fascist organizations that have condoned property destruction, prompting outrage from long-time watchers of right-wing extremism.

"[O]utrageous," David Neiwert, author of "Alt-America: the Rise of the Radical Right in the Age of Trump," responded on Twitter. "The far right thrives by spreading disinformation," he said. "One of the underrated aspects of Antifa is that [it] spreads accurate information about the bad actors on the far right."

The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Of course, antifa has nothing to do with "The Left", but Fox watchers and Limbaugh ditto-heads don't know that. Barr-- and Trump depend on them to never read into it carefully. And so far, neither MSM nor alternative media has seriously questioned this complex of disinformation.

Antifa never has killed anyone. Why? BECAUSE ANTIFA IS A GOVERNMENT PSYOPS ASSET. The mission of antifa, such as it is, is to induce the reading and watching public to conflate the Left with violence against the social order. It is completely within the continuum of the American Right's red-baiting.

Antifa will never do anything more serious than punky vandalism and a bit of looting. If they were to kill, or even seriously injure, anyone, the government would have to crack down on them, thus DESTROYING ITS OWN ASSET.

Antifa is a bunch of confused, angry young men (no females that I could see when I walked among them in 2011 in Washington as they were suiting up for police confrontation) led by a cadre of agents provocateurs.

They are NOT part of anything like the Left, and do not claim to be. But their usefulness does not depend on what they themselves think. They are, or have been to this point, a target, a straw man, for the President and his hirelings to bash at, by conflating them with a "radical left " in the imaginations of Trump and his true believers. And so far the press has not appreciably pushed back against the tactic.

My father fought the Nazis in two theatres with two Navies. I'm a Vietnam veteran who fought them in Miami at the Republican Convention in 1972. I proudly bear the scar from that confrontation. I am the son of my father, a civil rights attorney who once said, "Every man is entitled to one prejudice. And mine's Nazis!"

I am a life-long antifascist, and it irks me to watch the writers of antifa's narrative-- their handlers-- so misuse legitimate anti-fascism in this way, and the majority of the journalism business going along with the psyops operation.

However, with this article about Facebook's banning AltRight/ultraright/White supremacist groups from posting, it is clear, when you read it to the end, that serious people are beginning to question this psyop as I have done, and in the same terms.

My name is William Perkins Homans the third, but probably more people know me as the bluesman (and artist) Watermelon Slim.

I've been in the fight against war, fascism, injustice and inhumanity for 47 years. I was at MayDay, 1971, (more...)
