So Venezuela's President Chavez reports that US surveillance aircraft have been seen over Venezuela? What do you expect ... a Christmas card or love letters from Washington?
Insofar as Washington can afford to take its eyes off of events in the middle east or central Asia and hazard a glance to South America by far the easiest thing for them to do is to cede to Colombia and its oligarchy the initiative on how to deal with Bolivarian Venezuela, Bolivia, or Ecuador.
After all, these folks in Bogota are part of the real USA ... much more than I who am merely born here.
What rules now in North America is an empire, and its only enfranchised citizens are corporations such as Royal Dutch Shell, French Total, or British Petroleum. Its founding fathers are not George Washington or Thomas Jefferson but J. P. Morgan, the Rockefeller family and let us not forget Edward Louis Bernays.
Bernays' work is much more important to this modern world than the Declaration of Independence, the work of Thomas Jefferson, or the Federal Constitution, the work of James Madison and James Monroe. Bernays was the nephew of Sigmund Freud and is counted by all as the father of the modern science of public manipulation. It is he who first worked out the basic principles of how to manipulate ordinary citizens through mass-media into the acceptance of and consent to their own social and economic destruction. And to one extent or another all modern states since then and still today use his techniques to advance the monetary interests of their ruling cabals. Bernays and his followers discovered how to sell refrigerators to the Eskimo and oligarchy to the citizens of a now-dead Great Republic.
An amazing accomplishment, a real testimony to the power of science.
Years ago, Winston S. Churchill warned of the growing power of Fascism; how it could plunge the world into a new Dark Ages, "lit only by the lights of perverted science." Well folks, here we are. We are to remember a quote often attributed to Mussolini, but actually from his chief ideologue; "Fascism is a misnomer. It should properly be called corporatism, for our system is a melding of state and business power."
The good people of Venezuela and elsewhere face a USA which is now nothing more than a life-support system for a military/corporatist attempt to rule the world, in the same manner as did the previous group of Fascist corporatists: By force and terror.
