The scientist's calculations show that three fourths of accumulated heat is from heat emissions. In other words, most of the global warming is from heat humans have generated, not from increased levels of greenhouse gas in the air.
The fate of United States rest upon our correct understanding of what causes global warming, and up until now almost all of us had it wrong (i.e. we thought it was elevated levels of greenhouse gas in the air, rather than the heat generated by our industries).
Trapping Carbon Dioxide Or Switching To Nuclear Power Not Enough To Solve Global Warming Problem, Experts Say
ScienceDaily (July 13, 2009) - Attempting to tackle climate change by trapping carbon dioxide or switching to nuclear power will not solve the problem of global warming, according to energy calculations published in the July issue of the International Journal of Global Warming.
Just one of the gigantic implications are that nuclear power plants, just because they have a very small carbon footprint, won't help stop global warming, because it is primarily the heat they generate that is the cause of global warming.
Politically, this means that the Republican plan just released by Senator Alexander (that legislates the transition to nuclear power) is absurd, and would result in more global warming, not less (according to the article nuclear power contributes to global warming significantly because it produces heat emissions equivalent to three times the energy of the electricity it generates).
