Warren Walks in Our Shoes

Sen. Elizabeth Warren may be branded an extremist and socialist by Donald John Trump, the recently impeached president, who may be impeached again as more evidence becomes public. He can try to bring her down by hurling racist slurs -- Pocahontas comes to mind. Trump, a con man from New York City, who now calls the swamps of Florida home, can even keep lying about Warren through Election Day.
But smart Democratic insiders who know Warren paint a picture of a highly intelligent leader who offers concrete policy proposals and leadership skills to deal with needs left to fester for decades.
"Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren has plans. All the plans. She's got a plan to tackle corruption in Washington; a plan to fund HBCUs; a plan to curb climate change and create over 10 million jobs. It's as if Warren has been the only successful woman in America's history to rock both Gucci and Louie at the same damn time," wrote Stephen A. Crockett Jr. in Mondays edition of The Root.

He adds, "One thing Warren may not have planned for was a push behind the scenes by...The Root's Forever President, Barack Obama."
Crockett goes on to detail a report in The Hill. It says Obama met with donors, where he talked up Warren, who he once "hired" to work in his Administration.
The article in The Root also mentioned that Julian Castro, another Obama Adminstration alumn, holds Warren in high regard. This assertion led me to go online to see what I could find. Crockett knows what he is saying.
"Elizabeth Warren and Julian Castro may be rivals -- but they're buddies too," asserts a headline in the Oct. 29 edition of The Texas Tribune. The piece appears with a photo of a smiling Castro embracing Warren, apparently at a campaign event.

The article begins, "When Julia'n Castro walked off the Miami debate stage in June, his campaign staff felt confident he'd had a successful night. They weren't the only ones.
"U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren sent him a text congratulating him on his performance.
"For any other sharp-elbowed politicians competing for their party's nomination, the exchange might have been unusual. But Warren and Castro have, at various points in the primary, acted more as friends than foes."
This observation reminded me of an MSNBC interview Castro gave after a number of Democratic rivals attacked Warren for her Medicare-for-All stand at a fall debate. The reporter noted that Warren said her program would reduce costs, thus freeing many Americans from financial burdens some predict Medicare-for-All will create. Castro said something like this, "She has a point."
Warren has many good points, and plans. Unfortunately, Democratic leaders in my neck of the woods, Broward County, in Florida, don't get it. An Aug. 20 article by Sun Sentinel journalist Anthony Man quoted "moderate" Dems who instructed voters to ditch Warren and Sen. Sanders in favor of Biden or other reasonable candidates seeking the nomination. Castro was one of the moderate, reasonable souls these wise Democrats recommended. click here
Maybe Castro knows something the Real Solutions Caucus of Broward County Democrats doesn't.
Of course, President Forever Obama may also be on to something when he recently said women make better leaders than men.
"I'm absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything " living standards and outcomes," he said, the BBC reported. "If you look at the world and look at the problems, it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way."

It's time to get out of the way. Vote for Warren, and encourage her to ask Stacey Abrams, the living, breathing "patron saint" of voting rights to join the ticket, a no BS ticket.
