In the past decade the United States has evolved into an aggressor nation, particularly in the Middle East, and one must ask why has the battlefield replaced the conference room in working out disagreements? Has our educational system dumbed down even our leaders to a point where they no longer possess the ability to verbally communicate, or has another force been entered into the equation?
During the 90s a group known as the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) was co-founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan. In 1998 the group, given the moniker of "Neoconservatives," wrote a letter to then President Clinton, urging him to take over Iraq because Saddam Hussein was a threat as he had weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
The 'group' also stated that in order to ensure their plans could be carried out, a "New Pearl Harbor" event would be needed in order to better pave the way to implement their agenda.
After the Bush Administration developed its response to September 11, 2001, Kristol said, "We've just been present at a very unusual moment, the creation of a new American foreign policy." [7] Kristol ardently supported the Bush administration's decision to go to war with Iraq. In 2003, he and Lawrence Kaplan wrote The War Over Iraq, in which he described the reasons for removing Saddam.
Between the 'letter' and 9/11/2001 much took place. We had the Bush v Gore election which effectively, with the unconstitutional decision by the United States Supreme Court, took over our nation.
Once the Bush/Cheney administration (Cheney was a signatory of the PNAC) took over, many of their personnel assignments were individuals who had alliances to another foreign state, Israel, in the form of having dual-citizenship to the United States and Israel. With a group of individuals assigned to positions of authority, coupled with their identified dual-citizenship, is it any wonder how our policies in the Middle East have taken a drastic "Israeli" slant?
Presently, with the focus on the "debt charade" taking the attention of the Corporate Media Propagandists (CMP), (where there also is a heavy tie to Israel), these dual-citizens are stepping up their cries to invade Iran. Recently, John Bolton appeared before the Foreign Affairs Committee and reiterated his call for military action against Iran and openly expressing support for the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MEK or MKO). This is a group the State Department in 1997 designated as a terrorist organization.
Several weeks later Michael Mukasey appeared before the Oversight and Investigation Subcommittee and called for the US to de-list the MEK. Mukasey was even photographed prior to the hearing receiving counsel from the leadership of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the MEK's political wing, which is also designated as a terrorist organization.
Again, one must ask, "Who is in charge of our foreign policy?" Why aren't we abiding by the orders of George W. Bush when he made the announcement that we would consider anyone harboring or siding with terrorists as terrorists themselves?
Instead, it appears we are catering to their wishes, putting our young people, our economy, and our nation's image and security in harm's way. It is apparent our foreign policy is, in fact, foreign.
If history holds true, as the 'debt charade' winds down the CMP will step up their campaign for defending our only 'friends' in the Middle East (heck, we have illegally invaded/occupied most of the other nations so why would they be 'friends?). We will once again hear mushroom clouds, human rights atrocities, undemocratic dictatorship, and who knows what else they might try to 'sell'?
