The following information includes some notes I took from the video "Why doctors don't Recommend Veganism #3" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuOa3avtdNA&t=335s in which Dr. John McDougall was interviewed. McDougall says he teaches a diet based on starch. He says you do not want physicians as your best friends. You do not want your calendar littered with doctor appointments. The government needs to stop lying to us and tell people the truth. We need new dietary goals for the U.S.
Everybody is sick because they live on a diet of kings and queens. People are sick because they eat the high protein, high fat, high cholesterol, immune stimulating, auto-immune causing, rich Western diet. We could cure our patients by feeding them foods like rice, corn, potatoes, beans, peas, and lentils. Most doctors provide a blindfold [about the diet people really need], and it is full of dollar bills. They should be ashamed of themselves. Moreover, the meat, dairy, eggs, and fish industries are very pleased with the low-carb, more meat and dairy movement advocated by Dr. Atkins.
The main cause of global destruction is the livestock industry. John McDougall mentioned that it would be educational if more people watched these three videos:

"Cowspiracy" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-XP79o8gqQ&t=287s
"Earthlings" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms7yoerGaPU&list=PLv7whYPHSlwTVb06qz0XrrLikH40cGdhs
McDougall stated that the world is worth saving, and the major step we must make now is to change our source of calories. People over 30--if they do not have heart disease--they are fat, they have had a stroke, cancer, constipation, prostate cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis: they are all sick. All successful large populations of people in all recorded history have lived on starch-based diets.
In the video "Cancer Screening is a Scam" by Dr. John McDougall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za2v3h0tkMQ), McDougall starts out by saying, let me tell you about the man who opened my eyes. I felt hopeless as a young doctor because they never really taught me about prevention, but only how to treat illnesses. At a conference, I met Dr. Denis Burkitt (1911-1993). He was a surgeon who trained in Edinburg, Scotland. After his training, he and his buddies went to Uganda, Africa. He stayed there for 17 years and became the head of the Ministry of Health of Uganda. He oversaw 1000 hospitals and took care of 10 million people indirectly and directly.
Dr. Denis Burkitt spoke at this conference, and he said, "In my 17 years in Uganda, I never saw a case of hemorrhoids, I never saw diverticulosis, diverticulitis. I never saw obesity. I saw one case of gallstones. I never saw colon cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis. I saw one heart attack and that was a judge who trained in London but came back to Uganda." Dr. Burkitt told me [Dr. McDougall] that it was because of fiber--as you know fiber only occurs in plants. The diet of the people of Uganda back in the '50s and '60s was a starch-based diet (fruits and vegetables, no dairy, and very little meat).
McDougall says that 70 to 90 percent of our diet should be starch. The only slide presentation of Dr. Denis Burkitt that McDougall said he could remember was one that showed two frames to contrast the rich and poor countries: The one on the left showed a picture of the large intestine with tiny, rock-hard feces in the bowel movement with a large modern hospital in the background (representing the rich countries). The slide on the right showed the large intestine having a fat and long bowel movement with a little hospital in the background (representing poor countries).
In the next part of the video, Dr. McDougall explains why expensive cancer screenings are often not needed and that colonoscopies, for example, are preferred over less-expensive tests such as testing blood in the stool or sigmoid tests because doctors and hospitals make more money from the often dangerous, more-expensive tests.
