The people of tribal areas situated on Pak-Afghan border want the United States to take direct control of Tribal Areas situated on Pak-Afghan border. According to them, this is a must to save this world from further choas and destruction. Outgoing US President George W. Bush has failed in war on terrorism, because he always relied on the corrupt rulers of Pakistan.
According to reports, so far the United States has given billions of dollars to the rulers of Pakistan to provide some relief to the people of tribal areas--who have been forced to live in the stone ages. A few years ago when the issue of narcotics caught the attention of the United States, Poppy was the only cash crop of tribal areas. The US has provided huge funds to Pakistan for arranging alternate source of income for the people of tribal areas, but that money was never spent for the purpose for which it has been given. The money was embezzled. The US officials posted in Pakistan were aware of this whole drama, but they never raised objection on the embezzlement of funds. There is possibility that the US officials may also have gotten the share in the embezzled money. They always kept mum over the embezzlement of billions of dollars provided by the United States for good cause.
More than 10 billion dollars have been provided by the United States during the war on terrorism, but no one knows where the money was spent. Rulers of Pakistan on the one hand have been getting huge amount from the US--but on the other hand they have been looting the innocent tribesmen.
Some of the tribal elders suggest that the new administration of Barack Obama appoint a special representative for the tribal areas. Rulers of Pakistan can never be serious in war on terror, as this is their source of income. The direct US involvement in tribal areas may lead to finishing this war.
There may be people, who will disagree with me, but this is the fact that the people of tribal areas want US direct involvement. If the US drones can spot the terrorists in tribal areas, then they also can see the corruption of rulers of Pakistan.
