The killing of one of Ukraine's more notorious Neo-Nazis, Right Sector leader Aleksandr Muzychko, after selfie videos showed him roughing up reclacitrant officials - undoubtedly follows acting Prime Minister "Yats' visit to the White House last week.  President Obama's on camera assurances of American support for the government that ousted the elected president likely contrasted with his off-camera warnings: "Your thugs have served their purpose. Now get rid of them!" [tag]

This is easier said than done, since the Right Sector holds all the important security jobs, and its leader, Dimitri Yarosh, plans to run for president.   As if that were not enough, former Prime Minister and jailbird Yulia Timoshenko is heard in yet another leaked phone conversation threatening to level Russia with nuclear weapons.

European leaders are trying to come up with sanctions on Russia that would not hurt them more, instead of con-fronting the more serious threat of a Fascist revival - or revanche.  The prospect of a Fascist led Ukraine joining a European Union in which Neo-Nazi parties are on the rise in the street and at the polls, should give them pause. So far, only the Spaniards, who remember their Civil War, and perhaps for that reason do not have an active Neo-Fascist party, and the Russians, who supported them and still remember Napoleon and Hitler, appear to be living in the real world.
