Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Don't you just love it when an authoritarian dictator comes out with the truth while a high official of "freedom and democracy" America offers up the big lie.

That happened yesterday when Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, "The U.S. is seeking an Iraq under its hegemony and ruled by its stooges". How's that for truth telling?

Meanwhile Secretary of State John Kerry was mouthing, "The United States would like the Iraqi people to find leadership that is prepared to represent all the people of Iraq that is prepared to be inclusive and share power". Oh yeah! Too bad it isn't so John. The U.S. wants nothing resembling anything that is representative of the Iraqi people. It only wants compliant leaders that follow US dictates and Iraqi oil remains safely within US corporate control. The Iraqi people-Shiite, Sunni-are superfluous to US desires as its policies and actions reveal the true malevolence it has brought to those people.

Now the few of us still following the events in Iraq lately-though as Johns Nichols accurately reported in "The Nation" -polls indicate most Americans aren't interested in Iraq and want no more American war in Iraq-anything mouthed by US officials has consistently been the big lie from the nonexistent WMD, Saddam Hussein's connection to al Qaeda and 9/11 to Kerry yesterday blabbering the US wants Iraqi leadership representative of all the people.

But Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei getting out there and telling it as it is actually shouldn't be a stunning revelation. He has said in the past Iran isn't developing nuclear weapons and it would be un-Islamic for the Iranian Republic to do so. Of course his declaration was dismissed out of hand by official Washington as an Iranian deception even though the Iranian leader was telling the truth.

Now I'm not exactly extolling the ayatollah and defending everything the big guy in Iran is always saying. Remember in 2010 he openly defended and reaffirmed the re-election of Mamoud Ahmadinejad as Iran's president which of course was a rigged outcome which the savvy Iranian people saw as such and caused untold thousands of them to take to the streets and rebel against its government and its fraudulently elected leader only to see their rebellion a few months later brutally suppressed by that government.

So one has to be extremely cautious and skeptical of ANY government leader's pronouncement particularly in a crisis situation-and Iraq certainly qualifies as a country in crisis-where one has to pick through the official debris in search of what is really going on.

ISIS, the Islamist State in Iraq and Syria, the radical Sunni extremist faction that has recently overrun and taken over large swaths of Sunni territory in Iraq and Syria and appears to be a direct threat to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's Shiite led rule in Iraq is the reason for the US and Iran to both recognize the crisis could further destabilize and create a wider conflagration in the Middle East.

In response President Obama has ordered 300 military "advisers" dispatched to Iraq and Khamenei and Iran President Hassan Rouhani have said they would protect Shiite religious shrines located in Iraq so the present sectarian cauldron that is Iraq could explode in renewed civil war-all of which should be attributed to the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz mob invading Iraq in 2003. ALL the blood spilled in Iraq is on their hands, even as they continue to deny their responsibility and of course not held accountable for the atrocities they committed.

Now the Wall Street Journal publishes a piece of oped bilge from the despicable Cheney.

Only in America folks; it's becoming unrecognizable to this old hand.
