President Trump was unable to answer reporter Weijia Jiang's question intelligently and decided to abruptly end the press conference after challenging her.
CBS' Weijia Jiang was called on by the president. She asked Trump why he was putting so much importance on the number of COVID-19 tests that have been done in the United States. Jiang said that given that Americans are dying what does it really matter.
The President was visibly irate. He tried the false equivalence of people dying from COVID-19 throughout the world. And then he really unloaded.
"They're losing their lives everywhere in the world," Trump snapped back. "And maybe that's a question you should ask China. Don't ask me. Ask China that question."
Jiang did not take the obvious remarks with racial overtones lightly.
"Sir, why are you saying that to me, specifically?" Jiang asked.
It was clear that she understood why the president singled her out with the statement. He accused her of asking a nasty question. She balked.
"It's not a nasty question," Jiang replied. "Why does that matter?"
Trump would then call on CNN's Kaitlin Collins and then passed on her as he implied she had not answered his 'call' fast enough.
A frustrated Trump then just threw in the towel. He abruptly ended the press conference.
