Shy Kuchi girls watch, from Pakistan’s border town of Quetta, across from Kandihar, Afghanistan. The Kuchis are nomads, and before the war(s), were free to wander, identifying with the land and sky, rather than a particular border, or political ideology. Boy, does that seem like a wonderful option sometimes, in our black and white world.
I snapped this picture quickly, waiting for a bus. Good thing; they skittered away like Meer Cat Mirages. Today, unfortunately, because of war, many languish in refugee camps.
Little sprites, they appear like, in front of a sand castle, colorful and happy, if for a moment. If they could make a wish, I wonder what it would be.
