Top GOP Aide: We Had Key Dem "Votes from Day One"

Is there some sort of agreement that Americans ought to know about?

Take a look at the curious statement a top GOP Senate aide made according to the Washington Post. The article reports, "In the short term, Republican leaders plan a two-pronged strategy. First, they will try to keep the heat on moderate, red-state Democratic senators in an effort to force them to resist voting for President Obama's major initiatives. 'The goal is try to affect the end result knowing they have the votes from Day One,' said a top GOP Senate aide who was not authorized to speak publicly about tactics."

"Knowing that they have the votes from day one?" K-N-O-W-I-N-G?!?! Imagine if a Democrat were to say this during the Bush administration in 2005. He or she would be laughed out of Congress.

LUNATIC DEMOCRAT: I know we will have the votes to stave off the Right Wing's attempt to turn Medicare Part D into a massive hand out for the pharmaceutical companies.

ZOO GROUNDS KEEPER: We got him in here yesterday. We're keeping him in the double-thick Plexiglas cage until we're sure he can't climb or make it out between bars.

Leading Washington insiders are hardly even trying to hide the fact that they know key Democrats have agreed to break with their party from "Day One." The day they got elected? They campaigned on lies?

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) has echoed the cockiness of certainty that Republicans will defeat all of President Obama's agendas (and remember this coming from a minority member of the Senate whose party's approval ratings reached a new low this month).

"In an interview with Tulsa World," the Huffington Post reports, "Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe said confidently that a climate change bill wouldn't pass the Senate."

There it is again...that cockiness. What does Inhofe know that we don't know? We will soon find out. Every American ought to be wondering why a minority Republican Party that wants to continue the corrupt policies of the Bush administration is so confident that they will defeat everything that President Obama stands for; everything that Americans voted for.

We will soon find out who Inhofe is talking about because they will be revealed in the upcoming vote for President Obama's energy bill. The Democrats in the Senate who vote against the climate bill are...the ones. They are the ones that Inhofe must be talking about. They must be the ones whose votes have been in the Republican Party's back pocket since "day one." These are deeply troubling statements from Inhofe and the GOP aide.

Democratic leaders ought to call for investigations into the deal that is alluded to by the GOP aide. The Washington Post ought to reveal this source.
