To Drill, Or Not to Drill

To Drill, Or Not to Drill seems to be the question of the year, but deciding whether to do it or not has the country split.

One has to examine the benefits of doing so.

A few years ago, after hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana so hard,  gas prices were almost as high as they are today and the question of drilling here in America came up then as well. The reason given for not drilling then was that it would cost too much to extract the existing oil we have in this country. Saying that if we suddenly began using our domestic oil that the price of a gallon of gasoline would be around five bucks.

With this in mind, I do not understand those who say that drilling domestically would bring the price down. In fact, it would increase it.

I believe Americans have had it good as far as the price of gasoline is concerned, while other countries have been paying much higher prices per gallon for decades, some as high as eight dollars per gallon ten years ago, we have enjoyed paying a very small amount comparably.

The bottom line here is that crude oil is a commodity that, so far, we humans have not been able to manufacture. It will run out and it is time we all understand this.

We have a grand opportunity now not only here in the United States but the world to put our heads together and come up with the technology to replace crude oil.

I believe we are able to replace it now but because of the corporate money Black Holes that make billions from crude oil and their influence over our elected officials to prevent any new technology from being implemented, we just sit back as taxpaying citizens and do nothing.

Until We The Voting Public realizes that our elected officials are always going to support corporations over the will of the people we will always end up paying more for just about everything.

A prime example of this is the fact that all state governments moan and groan over not generating enough revenue from taxes and the Lottery, but if you examine the issue you would find that these states make billions annually from Lottery sales alone not to mention the billions made from various taxes. This does not even include the billions of dollars made from a Federal level.

It seems to me with all of this money made yearly by the Government from a local level to the Federal level that we should have more than enough capital to achieve just about anything we want but all we hear is how close these Governments are to being bankrupt. This is unacceptable and should not be tolerated by taxpaying citizens because it is clear that many individuals in Government are personally making a large profit for themselves at our expense.

We elect these individuals to office and expect them to work in our best interest. It is time that the taxpayers of this country demand that financial reports be made public from each elected official in office.
