Let's take a look at the latest terrorist plot attempt to inflict deadly harm that was foiled by keen intelligence and cooperative efforts between countries, in essence good police work.

Apparently, two toner cartridges for computer printers that were packed with PETN, a chemical explosive, (similar to the one found on the "underwear" bomber Umar Abdulmutallab, the Nigerian man on the airliner that was landing at Detroit's airport last Christmas, who was intercepted by nearby passengers who foiled his attempt before he could detonate it) were discovered in Britain and Dubai that were headed for synagogues in Chicago.

What is known is the Saudi Arabian intelligence service that monitors terrorist suspects in that country (as well as neighboring Yemen) got wind of this latest plot and passed a tip to American authorities.

The PETN explosives contained in the toner cartridges were discovered on separate private cargo planes, one a U.P.S. plane in Nottingham, England and the other on a FED EX plane in Dubai, each heading for the U.S.

The critical parts of this latest episode that must be kept in mind was the timely intelligence and the cooperative efforts by and between civil authorities of different countries that came into play to foil the plot, discover the explosives and then having them quietly removed without incident.

And that's the whole point; terrorism and terrorist plots can often be foiled by keen eyed intelligence and cooperative efforts by responsible international and local civil authorities. Not by our fighting wars in Muslim countries where our military and an equal number of our financially backed mercenaries (private contractors) along with our increased number of drone and missile attacks in Pakistan and Yemen, serve only to create new terrorists who want to retaliate and attack us. Our wars in Muslim countries compound and increase the terrorism against us, not lessen it. They are absurd and insane.

If we were to end our unnecessary wars and occupations, stop the killing of innocents by drones and missiles, the terrorism against us wouldn't suddenly end, but in all likelihood would eventually dry up over time as the basis for radical Muslim hatred against us would no longer be there.

So let's applaud the foiling of these potentially deadly terrorist criminal plots by the responsible civil authorities. Then let's end our policy of fighting unnecessary wars that does nothing to end terrorism, only exacerbate it.
