Richard Mekdeci, co-founder of Positive Music Month (with Sue Riley and Russ Hammock) says, "November is Posi Music Month at emPower Music & Arts, where you are invited to take the Posi Music Challenge: Turn off the mainstream radio, and the whiny victim love songs and listen to nothing but positive, empowering music for the month of November. Then notice the difference in your attitude and outlook toward yourself and others. It's the power of positive music! emPower makes it easy by giving away a free download every day in November! Just go to www.empowerma.com to start your free library of Posi Music." If nothing else, after 30 days I guarantee you will begin to notice songs with less positive messages. Warning: Side effects of a Posi Music diet may include sudden bursts of compassion and optimism and elevated self esteem."

According to emPower, multi-Posi-award-winning singer/songwriter/laughologist, Greg Tamblyn, "calls most of the music we get fed from the mainstream music industry 'whiny victim love songs.' In fact, as a public service, Greg has created a list of The (New) Top 10 Whiny Victim Love Songs from his 'Analog Brain in a Digital World' CD. On this live cut Greg says, 'Listening to music with new ears I found songs masquerading as love songs that are really about taking hostages.' You can hear the cut at GregTamblyn.com"
An article recently published by the Alban Institute notes "The past few years have brought us new awareness of the power of music . . . Neuroscientists explain that music is fundamental to our brains and that music communicates the emotions and ideas that are the building blocks of human nature."
