The Patriotism of Civil Disobedience

I WILL BURN THE FLAG that represents any country or ideology that sanctions racism, hate, division, censorship, denial of civil rights, spreads terrorism across the globe, and fosters the mantra and agenda that neo-liberalist economics 'trumps' humanity.

I wholly support the millennial generation to take to the streets...make impeccably evident not everyone is willing to acquiesce and fall prey.

With hundreds of thousands of my young brothers and sisters, I recall vividly the taste and sting of tear gas, the thunder of an advancing police line, the feel of being in the sights of expressionless national guardsmen, the mayhem of stampedes, the deafening of ordinance, the excruciating pain of a hard-swung billy club on the back of the neck and legs...in Berkeley, in Oakland, in San Francisco.
And not once in my life, from then to nearly fifty years now, have I ever regretted or trivialized my efforts.....only had I done more.

Working within a broken and dysfunctional system of this magnitude is naive and folly.

And..."It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." --Krishnamurti

More than at any time since those tumultuous Sixties, I fully support Civil Disobedience....at the very least ---- Make. Your. Voice. Heard.

Leave the masturbation of rhetorical negotiation to my tired and weakly idealistic generation.

Remember what built this country. It was Civil Disobedience. To the nth degree.

It is your future.
It is all you have left.

It is true Patriotism
