Another mass killing today involving a school, this time at a small college in a small town in Oregon. Thirteen reported dead, another 20 or so wounded. And, as expected, the all too common horrified outrage from those seeking responsible gun laws, and the typical shoulder-shrugging from the "ammosexuals" who deny that guns are even a tiny part of the problem. After all, the disturbed 20-year-old mass killer could've just as easily stabbed 30 or 40 people, right?
Think about this: There have been 137 campus shootings since the bloody and horrific Sandy Hook massacre of elementary school students... There have been 45 campus shootings just this year ... so far.
And our government -- the Congress -- will do nothing about the carnage. Why? Because they don't dare risk being labeled "anti gun" and voted out of office. Or, more importantly, because the merchants of death in the gun lobbies come armed with boatloads of cash for those candidates willing to sacrifice our children for payola.
I'd like to know, love to know in fact, what possible harm could come of stricter background checks, sensible laws about guns on campus, and tighter regulation of handgun purchases?
What does the NRA have against common-sense safety measures? They can still protect their families, can still go hunting ... just not for other human beings.
