The Israeli Design for the Palestinians
It is becoming clearer what
the future Israeli plan for the Palestinians is. With the collusion of the
United States the plan has two main components:
The first is to make the
life of the Palestinians miserable enough that they will want to leave and
immigrate elsewhere. This is already quite successful; the emigration from
Palestine is reaching historic proportions. Jordan is the principal destination
and is being facilitated by King Abdullah.
As part of this policy, Israeli
soldiers are herding West Bank's Palestinians out of the rural 60% of the West
Bank officially known as Area C. The Israeli army frequently designates patches
of that land as live-fire military zones and expels most of its Palestinian
residents who have no other place to go. Often, they force Palestinians to move
because of supposed impending archaeological digs. The erection of hilltop
stations to provide antennae for Israeli mobile phones (but not for Palestinian
ones) is another oft-cited reason for pushing Palestinians out.
In many places, all the
Arabic road signs are scratched out. The Israeli army has already redistributed
around 70% of the supposedly Israeli State owned West Bank land either to
Jewish settlers or to the World Zionist Organization. While Israel's government
expands Jewish settlements and ties them to Israel proper with a network of "Jews-only'
roads, it bars and sometimes reverses Palestinian development. It denies
housing permits to Palestinians, thus stunting their community's natural
growth. Water for the Palestinians is also restricted, being allowed once a
week only by lorry.
Israeli soldiers have already
destroyed scores of small EU-funded projects, ranging from wells to solar
panels, and threaten to demolish scores more. According to the UN, so far this
year, Israel's army has evicted almost 400 Palestinians from the West Bank and
dismantled over 200 homes; the fastest rate in two years. In spite of protestations
by the European Union to end forced transfer Palestinians out of area "C", the
process continues unabated. 2,300 Bedouins have recently been earmarked for
removal from the strategic west-east corridor known as E1, which links
Jerusalem to big Jewish settlements.
To
make life even more miserable for the Palestinians, the Israeli government has
imposed a system that prevents free movement by Palestinians within their own
territory and requires the Palestinians to apply for special Israeli permits.
The second component in
this scheme is to secure an agreement with King Abdullah of Jordan to absorb
more Palestinians in his kingdom. This may have already happened with the help
of the United States. This achieves two objectives simultaneously: it places
more Palestinians under the control of the king and increases the control of
Israel over the future the Palestinians. King Abdullah has no choice but to
accept. His kingdom relies, almost entirely on the charity of the West and
particularly the United States. It has minimal other resources. He and his
family before him have always served the interests of the West rather than
those of the Palestinians or Arabs in general. After all, they owe their
positions and power to the West. Winston Churchill created Transjordan on a
paper napkin in the aftermath of World War-II and he appointed its king, the
great grandfather of the present king. Transjordan's first king collaborated
with the British to allow more Jews into Palestine. He hired a British general
to run his army (armed with British weapons) and help maintain his reign. His
grandfather was assassinated at the gate of the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The current
king and his family continue to be widely despised and regarded in the Middle
East as Arab traitors.
