The Hillary / Trump Darbakah

Darbakah is a slang Arabic word (more Saudi) used mainly by soccer game TV commentators. It describes a situation where most of the players from both teams are located very close to one of the two goal keepers. The situation is very fluid, full of chaos, disorder and confusion where the attacking team is dying to score and the defending team is dying to save. The goal keeper is in a miserable situation where he can't see who is having the ball and from where it is coming. The fans from both teams are having their hearts beating at full speed waiting for this short-lived situation to unfold.

That is a soccer game Darbakah. How about other Darbakahs? Like the Trump / Hillary Darbakah or the Darbakah in Syria, not to mention Libya's and Brexit' Darbakahs.

To me US election became a game between two parties, indeed two people, in which all kinds of soft (but harsh) weapons (conventional or otherwise) are brazenly used. It is indeed Darbakah and Cheap. It reached a point where the future of America and the world is simply decided by a hospital report, regardless of all other critical requirements such as wisdom, experience and leadership.

The situation in Syria is even more similar where Syria is the goal keeper and the two playing teams are US and Russia. The spectators are Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Surprisingly the US team is not keen on scoring while the Iranian spectators throw stones whenever a member of the US team close to the goal. There are rumors of match-fixing between the two teams.

The world of allies and adversaries is witnessing the greatest Darbakah in its history to the extent that an ally in the morning can an adversary in the evening and an adversary at 11:00 pm can be an ally at 11:00 am. Turkey's swinging between the US and Russia in the last month is a good example.

How about a more complex Darbakah? The Sunni Shiite conflict and the role of Isis and Iran (and probably some Western and regional intelligence agencies) in Iraq and Syria. Last but not least the Syrian refugees and Brexit Darbakah in Europe. It is believed that Assad with an unwavering support from Iran is pushing out, on a phased basis, Sunni Syrians ( 90% of the Syrians ) out of their land replacing them gradually with Shiite from Iraq and Iran. If the world gives Assad one more year, Syria, like Iraq, will be another Iranian district playing in the hands of the Russians and it will be too late for the US and its allies. What a Darbakah !
