Why is he still a viable kingmaker? He can't be counted on to sufficiently staple his hair hat, but he wields the power to make or break a political candidate? What dystopian nightmare are we in today?
Donald Trump, who will headline a Las Vegas fund-raiser for Mitt Romney Tuesday, caused a stir with another "birther" comment ...screams this particular headline in the New York Daily News.
The Birthers just won't die! They annoy us everlasting, kinda like the Trumpflap. Can this ridiculous non-issue ever be put to rest? The president displayed his birth certificate and everything, what more do these bored bigoted losers want? I have an idea, find his Momma and ask her where she was on this night of his birth. That would pretty much solve the riddle, wouldn't it? Oh, I forgot -- she is no longer with us. But, surely there are people who could attest to her -- very pregnant -- whereabouts?
The Daily News continues...
"Romney has previously stated that he believes Obama was born in the United States, but he stopped short of fully denouncing Trump."'You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me, and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,' Romney said. 'But I need to get to 50.1% or more [of the vote] and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.'
"That drew the ire of the Obama campaign, who slammed Romney for not standing up to the reality TV star.
"'Mitt Romney's continued embrace of Donald Trump and refusal to condemn his disgraceful conspiracy theories demonstrates his complete lack of moral leadership,' said spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter.
"'If Mitt Romney lacks the backbone to stand up to a charlatan like Donald Trump because he's so concerned about lining his campaign's pockets,' Cutter continued, 'what does that say about the kind of president he would be?'"
As American Idol and Dancing with the Stars pack up the glitter and
shiny objects for the year, we must have some form of entertainment.
This'll have to do until baseball playoffs begin.
