The Full Moon stage of the Moon's cycle is a time of awareness, when we see what has been hidden from us, what has been growing within us. For the first time in 9 years, I'll be celebrating this Full Moon on the East Coast at my favorite beach. This Full Moon is called the Blessing Moon, continuing to dispense the energies and blessings of the Summer Solstice on all of us.
As I see Sister Moon rise over the Atlantic Ocean, I hope I remember how much I learned in the desert these 9 years. I hope I am reminded of all the blessings I received because I dealt with all those things I wasn't comfortable with there. I hope I remember the blessings I've always loved about living near that beach that I'm celebrating at. And I hope that I'm surrounded by my friends and family, so that this Blessing Moon will see us all sharing our gifts with each other. Because this Full Moon is all about Home.
What makes a home? Relationships, commitment, a connected vision of life, care and kindness, support as well as confrontation. A home is the place you (hopefully) feel you can be most yourself. A home is where you can nourish your body, be sparked by creativity or great sex, meditate, or have a good cry. The comfort of home is mostly that you are accepted for who and what you are.
This Cancer/Capricorn Full Moon occurs in the signs that relate to Mother and Father, Home and Country, the emotional body and our outer purpose or dharma. So it is a very personal Full Moon, relating to who we are at our core and how we hold ourselves in the world because of that.
Cancer is the Archetypal Mother, the waters of Earth which gave rise to Life. There is a fertility and strength to Cancer, which not only births but feeds Life. But Cancer's waters are polluted and dying. How can we let this happen? Who will change things if no t us? Earth and women need to take the lead now. We are the birthers, we are the nurturers. While men have these capacities, it is important for women to consciously connect with our ancient powers of life. We were given them for a reason, don't you think?
The Warrior planet Mars is close to the Cancer Sun, sparking us to grapple with these issues. We can do it with our family, our community, our work, our belief system, our energies. Mars in Cancer protects the family, and ultimately the country if he finds it worthy. We might not agree with our government's policies, but this is our country and our world and it's up to us to straighten it out. A government is only as corrupt as its people. If we are people of integrity, we can create a governing structure of integrity.
The Moon is in Capricorn, the sign of the Archetypal Father and at its best, the sign of that integrity I am speaking of. Capricorn symbolizes our collective institutions, the society that we've agreed to support. Since 2008, Pluto has turned his wrecking ball on all that is no longer viable in our society. Our financial system, our governments, our laws, our manipulative media, our shameful educational systems, our ideas of work and play, our inequalities and injustices. The system, called patriarchy, has come to an end. That's all it is.
We need a new paradigm of the world and life. We can no longer use the Earth as a resource we can rape and pillage for useless consumerism and c orp orate greed and power. The Earth is alive, and we need Her to live. (see the great videos at www.natureisspeaking.org & Pope Francis' Encyclical on the Environment.) We need a feminine vision of life to take precedence if we want to 'birth' something new. It is the Divine Feminine, very active once again in women, who can help us create a new world, rather than the 'new world order' of the 1%.
The Capricorn
Moon is
conjunct Pluto, telling us
it's now or never. The powers
that be are moving to take over
the world--the TTP trade agreement gives them the power to sue a
country over environmental or social laws. What is that if not a
takeover? Capricorn represents the
responsibility of adulthood, our dharma.
It
is up to each of us to put a
stop to the continuing destruction of the Earth. With Mars and Pluto
opposed to each other, we can either disregard the world for our
personal convenience or stand up for what is important to home and
family.
The Capricorn Full Moon occurs on July 1st at 7:19pm PDT/ 10:19pm EDT and on July 2nd at 2:19am GMT.
The Sabian symbol for the Sun at 10* Cancer is: A large diamond in the first stages of the cutting process. Jewels symbols our values; diamonds symbolize what is eternal and the clarity and wisdom to know it. We have to shape ourselves to what is eternal. And it takes time and practice and skill, but it is obtainable.
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 10* Capricorn is: An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor. The albatross has come to symbolize some kind of psychological curse, but originally, a ship being followed by an albatross (a seabird) was considered lucky. This image suggests we forget about the fear and open to the good luck!
This Full Moon engages the lunar nodes in Aries and Libra, forming a grand cross which invites us to move beyond self-interest into a just and compassionate relationship with everyone. And Neptune adds his gifts of imagination, spiritual vision and empathy to the mix.
Venus makes the first of three conjunctions to Jupiter in Leo hours before this Full Moon, encouraging us to engage in the Goddess' belief that 'all rites of love and pleasure are mine!' With Venus turning retrograde on July 25 th, she will travel back and forth through Leo until the beginning of October. When the Goddess of Love and Wisdom meets up with the God of Curiosity and E xpansion, it's best to just enjoy the ride and see what you discover.
