The Cosmic Story: The Sagittarius Full Moon, June 2, 2015

The Crux of the Matter

This Full Moon occurs in the mutable signs of airy Gemini the Twins, and fiery Sagittarius, the Horse-Man. There are two parts to each of these energies. Gemini attempts to unite the Divine Mind with the personal local mind. For Sagittarius, it is the ability to unite instinct and intuition to give meaning and purpose to our lives, setting goals based on our values and beliefs. Neptune in Pisces, another doubled sign, challenges them to find the deep layer of intellect and intuition in our spiritual grounding--the Heart.

The Sun in Gemini delights in information -- the more the merrier. Quick and agile, the Gemini mind likes to play with ideas and different perspectives. The immortal Mind is the right-brain imagination which can create worlds. The mortal mind is the rational left-brain which gathers information. Right now, our left brain is so overloaded with facts that our right brain can become paranoid. The Internet is Gemini's bane--too much of a good thing is dangerous to our health! The price on Gemini's nervous system can be steep. We all have Gemini energy, the ability to communicate and gather information, as well as to run on nerves. Too much time spent on the Internet is more than our poor brains can handle. It is blowing our minds and shorting out our bodies.

The Moon in Sagittarius can be just as wild as Gemini when you're unaware. These two signs channel the masculine energies of air and fire and can certainly egg each other on to extremes--wild winds/wild fires. But with Saturn still in Sagittarius, we're looking at the more responsible, positive aspects of Sagittarius as the Philosopher, the Mystic, the Wanderer, the Student, the Storyteller. Since the Moon is in such a delightful aspect to Uranus in Aries' call to awaken to our archetypal Self, embody your hero or hera, the one that calls you to your destiny.

Sagittarius wants to expand his consciousness by having new experiences. Given that Sagittarius' ruler Jupiter (now in Leo) is in the same powerful aspect to both the Moon and Uranus, our self-confidence should be high to journey into the unknown, both within and without. These energies support the new story, our heart's story. Don't let patriarchy's story limit your actions. Shoot your arrows far and then go find them!

Luckily, Mercury, Gemini's ruling planet, is retrograde. It's traveling slowly now as it reunites with the Sun before appearing as a morning star just as it ends its retrograde on June 11 th . Going retrograde means Mercury's energy is going within and prodding us to look at ourselves to re-member, re-claim and re-do anything that is circling our minds or worrying our hearts. As many of you have told me, this Mercury retrograde is reminding us of what we really need to know and what we can let go of. It's time to clean out the clutter. Give your rational brain a break! Saturn in Sagittarius opposite Mercury is helping the mind stay focused on the goal as well as sustained by faith in our new story. Our beliefs are important at this Full Moon.

The Full Moon square to Neptune in Pisces offers the potential of deeper vision and faith to our overtired minds and hearts. Its siren call evokes a peaceful rest. On the other hand, a crisis in faith can blow us out of the water and bring on the paranoia. 'We have nothing to fear but fear itself!' It's better to meet the future with imagination than with fear.

Remember, we've changed our story. Wherever we put our attention now will flourish. Turn toward family and community for support and new vision. Collective culture is mindless and leaves us undernourished, poison to our souls. We can step away from what no longer serves us, remembering that we can create what we need with our local communities. Gemini wants us to know our local environment and become an integral part of it. Sagittarius wants us to know our beliefs and live by them. Think globally, act locally!

This Full Moon encourages us to become aware of what we value (the seed planted at the Taurus New Moon of May 18 th ) and stand up and speak out for our beliefs in our communities. Instead of posting your beliefs on FB, go to your town council/ school/ condo/business meeting and speak up about what kind of community you want to live in. Bring your like-minded friends and speak out (Gemini Sun, Mercury retrograde, Mars) and share your beliefs (Moon in Sagittarius) to change the direction of your world.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun at 12* Gemini is: A black girl fights for her independence in the city. This is the feminine spirit which has been reviled and ignored for millennia under patriarchy. And She is taking her stand. Women everywhere are fighting now only for our freedom from patriarchy but also men's freedom for their inner feminine side. Yay us!

The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 12* Sagittarius is: A flag turns into an eagle. This symbol speaks to a change in consciousness, moving from an ideal (flag) to a reality (eagle). It's time for our symbols to come alive for us. It's time for our ideals to be lived in our communities. It's time to take on the majesty of spirit (Eagle) and become examples of hope in the future.
