Can you guess who said:
"In July of 2004, I came out strongly against the war in Iraq because it was going to destabilize the Middle East. I am the only one on this stage who knew that and had the vision to say it. And that's exactly what happened. The region became totally destabilized."
In another interview the same person said: "What was the purpose of this whole thing? Hundreds and hundreds of young people killed. And what about the people coming back with no arms and legs? Not to mention the other side. All those Iraqi kids who've been blown to pieces. And it turns out that all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!"
To answer the question about who said the above: the speaker was Donald Trump who recently has been going on network news with this information.
Wow!
Of course, there is slight problem with his statement.
He came out against the war AFTER it had started, not before. He would later say he was ALWAYS against the war, but no documentation of this seems to exist.
Still we progressives should hand it to him. Who better to criticize Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and Rice and ALL THE OTHER REPUBULICANS than their own golden boy?
Unlike his neoconservative opponents in the republican primary who claim that the war was justified, or that we really won but unfortunately Obama screwed it up afterwards, he's TELLING IT LIKE IT IS: The war was unnecessary and stupid.
On this issue he can stand tall with Bernie Sanders EXCEPT: Bernie was against the war BEFORE it happened, something not even Hillary can claim.
