This is one of the most shocking and scathing stories I have ever researched. As I tried to get some handle on another Texas race, these short apocryphal allusions to Securities Fraud Indictments of the Attorney General kept popping up in many different short stories across scores of newspapers in Texas.

As the shadowy facts emerged here and there, I wondered in the middle of last night whether Texas was becoming like Tammany Hall, or Illinois under Rod Blagojevich, or Albany a la Eric Schneiderman, or even some harkening back to Huey P. "Kingfisher" Long, in Louisiana. It is all really rather nauseating, and refreshing to think by comparison of my own Governor, Republican Susana Martinez, who has served for 8 years with only an occasional problem here and there and no staining personal scandals while she exercised her own style of government.

Here is Paxton's smirking Mugshot after turning himself in:

Senator Ted Cruz even praised Paxton as a "tireless conservative warrior"!

As for Texas, I couldn't pin down any of the salient details or any real explanation of how fraud indictments could continue for more than 3 years, until October 1, when the October Texas Observer came out, with this truly brilliant long article (which truly deserves consideration for a Pulitzer for Investigative Journalism), Entitled Stand by Your Man, in the October Texas Observer, it is by Michael Barajas [.texasobserver.org/stand-by-your-man]

Before launching into this tour of the Chamber of Corruption, Manipulation, and other Legal Horrors that represents Paxton, allow me to introduce to you his Democratic opponent, Austin Attorney Justin Nelson.

"Our indicted Attorney General Ken Paxton is back to being the only statewide official in the country under indictment."

-- Justin Nelson on Tuesday, May 29th, 2018

Take a look at this KVUE story and short video summary of Justin Nelson's wishing the indictments a happy 3rd birthday:
